Mom’s Recipe for Homemade Thin Crust Pizza with Pesto

Hello everyone! I’m really excited to share with you this pizza recipe. It’s perfect for New Year’s Eve, and its super delicious and easy to make.

You will find different versions of this recipe online, but I’m going to share with you the version from my Mom’s cookbook in honor of her.

Below, you will also find videos I made using the Tripod my sister got me for Christmas. I recommend that if you are a regular blogger like me, to get one here. They are compatible with your iPhone, so you don’t need to buy a camera. Just hook up your iPhone to the tripod and you are all set! It will make your life a whole lot easier and you can learn how to edit the videos to make them fun to watch using applications like IMovie. Believe me if I can do it, anyone can. I’m not the most tech savvy, but once I got the hang of it, it was pretty easy.

So now back to the pizza. To start gather your ingredients.

You will need:

1 Package Mama Mary’s Thin Crust Pizza (Comes with 2 Pizza Crusts)

1 jar of drained pesto sauce

1-2 cups of Sliced Tomatoes

4 oz of provolone cheese

1 Cup of Shredded Basil

Tools

Cutting Board

Good Cutting Knife (This one works well)

Oven set the 475 Degree F

Pizza Slicer  (check this one out)

Directions

  1. Gather your basil. Using a kitchen knife, begin to shred or chop the basil into tiny pieces. This will be sprinkled on the top of the pizza at the end! To see how I prepared the basil, watch the video below! (Pardon the small frame. I’m still learning how to adjust the videos)

 

Step 2: Chop tomatoes using a kitchen knife. In this clip I’m use cherry tomatoes because that’s what I had in my fridge. I recommend using regular tomatoes they will taste better on the pizza and will help balance the flavor of the pesto.

Step 3: Spread the pesto on the pizza crust. You can use the whole jar like I did in the video or you can just use half of the jar. Just make sure the pesto covers the whole crust. The pesto will act as the glue that holds the other toppings together. Watch the video below to see steps 3 & 4 in action!


Step 4:

Add the rest of the toppings. Layer the top of the crust with slices of provolone cheese. Then sprinkle about a cup of basil to the top. Then set the oven to 475 degrees F. Once the oven is set, place the pizza in the oven and let it bake for 12 minutes. The pizza should look somewhat like this..

Step 5:

After about 12 minutes, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool. Slice the pizza, and enjoy!
